Necessity of Higher Education
June 9th, 2008 by adminSuch question as importance of higher education worries a lot of people. We hear many stories about high prices for education, about problems with grants and loans, about following debts and long process of repayments and all these stories make us to think that higher education is not worth it.
But from other side, a lot of people who have graduated from college or university say that all knowledge which people get during the process of education at college was very important and they used it at work, that’s why higher education is considered to be as one of the most important things in life.
But the problem with higher education exists and it is connected with the choice of higher educational establishment. A lot of young people would like to study at universities which belong to the “Ivy League” like Harvard, Princeton. Yale, Brown, Stanford etc. Does it really matter? A lot of parents want to see their children as students of one of above mentioned universities. But do you really think that other universities which are less prestigious are so bad? It is not so and many people who had graduated from them became excellent specialists and achieved big success. The main thing is what you can do and not where you had got your diploma. If you can’t accomplish your duties and don’t know simple things which you are supposed to know, then diploma from prestigious university won’t help you.
And according to the recent statistic data, many students stop to study because they don’t see the practical meaning of their education and sometimes it can be so. That’s why it is worth to send children to study at educational establishments with obvious practical directivity, like technical\cal or business schools, computer schools etc.
