It was founded in 1755 and turns to be the oldest university in the history of Russia. As the statistic shows, in 2004 it has accounted for 31,000 of students, 7,000 of post-graduated, and 4,000 of representatives of teaching stuff. These are quite impressive figures, do not you agree? Nowadays, the university accounts for 29 faculties and 15 research centers.
Ivan Shuvalov and Mikhail Lomonosov were those to give the idea of the foundation of the university, and Russian Empress Elizabeth gave her agreement and signed a decree of the university foundation on the 25th of January, and from that time, the date of 25th January is famous as the day of the Students’ day. In that day, all the students are gathering together and having great celebrations within their educational establishments and within the whole Russia. They are remembering funny occasions during the study, sinning student songs, and as a rule, the celebration ends up with the great fireworks at the central squares of all the cities in Russia. The quality of education in the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University is considered to be one of the best in the whole world, that is why a lot of foreign students are coming to Russia in order to receive the education.
